Can I Swap My Existing Plans With iBuild Designs to Simplify the Process?

Charles Christodoulou: Yes. If you fill out that blue form I showed before, that’ll tell me who you are, where you are, and your contact details. Then I’ll send you an email with links to our plans and prices, and you can pick a plan that’s close to your existing design.

Question: Okay, so it’s easier to whittle down the choices.

Charles Christodoulou: Yes.

Question: What’s the normal lead time given that the approvals are already done?

Charles Christodoulou: Even though you have planning approvals, I’d say you still need to allow the full nine months. We need to make sure the drawings are in a format iBuild can use. Some architects use different software, and we may need to do engineering and possibly another energy report. From experience, I don’t think it’ll be under six months before materials can be delivered. I’m being honest. I can start delivering materials 6 to 8 weeks from the day you get your building permit, but there are a lot of little hurdles, so I’d allow 6 months even if you already have the planning permit.

What’s the expected timeline?

If you already have planning permission and existing plans but prefer to switch to an iBuild design, the good news is — yes, you can. iBuild recommends filling out the CR1 form, sending your existing plans, and working with the team to find the closest matching design.

ibuild transition process timeline infographi

Even if planning approvals are already granted, it’s best to allow around nine months in total, with material delivery usually occurring 6–8 weeks after obtaining the building permit. This timeframe accounts for ensuring the drawings are in the correct format, completing engineering checks, and clearing other small hurdles.

By working with iBuild early, you can streamline the process and avoid surprises later.
