How far can I customise a standard iBuild design?

Charles Christodoulou: Let’s say you’ve selected one of our standard designs and you want to change it a bit. Try not to change the whole external measurements – both the length and width – and all the internal layout. I had a case today where iBuild couldn’t treat it as a standard design anymore because the whole thing had been changed internally and externally. So, try to at least stick within your external measurements, and maybe change a wall or two – that’s going to be okay.

(Mhm, yeah. All right. Because for example, in our case, we’d be interested in the Port Macquarie one, but what you have as the back of the house would be the front of the house for us. So we’d have to change windows and things like that. That’s manageable, isn’t it?)

Charles Christodoulou: Yeah, that should be all right – changing windows is fine.

(Okay, thank you.)

Charles Christodoulou: The best thing to do is, when you’re ready, fill out the ER1 (previously known as CR1) form and print out a copy of the Port Macquarie design.

Charles Christodoulou: Make a note of the changes on that plan and email it together with the form. The sales professional will check to make sure everything’s okay.

If you’ve selected a standard iBuild plan and want to tweak it, keep changes modest so the design remains “standard”.

What you can change

  • Minor edits are fine. For example, window changes or switching the kitchen position were confirmed as manageable.

  • Keep the shell the same. Try not to change the overall external measurements (both length and width) or completely rework the internals.

When it becomes a custom project

  • If the whole thing is changed internally and externally, iBuild cannot treat it as a standard design anymore. Extensive edits shift the job into custom territory.

How to request your tweaks

  • Fill out the ER1 form (previously known as CR1) when you’re ready.

  • Print a copy of the chosen standard plan.

  • Mark your proposed changes on the plan.

  • Email the marked plan with your ER1.

  • A sales professional will check with the project managers to make sure the changes are okay.
