Environmental loads

Environmental loads are caused by the environment; they relate to the geographical location of the building.

An important environmental load is wind load. Building designers need to consider the impact of the wind on a structure. The wind speed acts as pressure or force, and the intensity of this force creates a wind load. Wind loads can come in any direction with varying strengths.
