Charles Christodoulou: On (CR1) page three, you’ll see LU, LN, or FN. So “lock-up” means the frame, external cladding, your windows, and external doors. You can stop there, or you can say, “I’ll take lock-up plus lining,” which means plasterboard, architraves, internal doors…

(Yeah, those architraves and the plasterboards – they’d be cut to size, I’m assuming?)

Charles Christodoulou: No, they’ll come in bulk, and then your tradesperson will cut it.

Charles Christodoulou: I’m finding probably 2 or 3 out of 10 people don’t take the final kit. They do their own kitchen and bathroom – not because of the price, but because they have their own ideas on how they want to finish it. Our standard kitchen is the Kaboodle kitchen from Bunnings, but some want to go a level or two higher.

Some customers want to take on parts of their build themselves, while others prefer support up to a certain point. So it’s common to ask: Can iBuild supply just certain stages of a kit home build – like framing only?

The answer is yes.

At iBuild, you can choose from different construction stages, depending on how much of the project you want to handle yourself.

Lock-Up Stage

Lining Stage

This includes:

  • Structural frame
  • External cladding
  • Windows
  • External doors

It’s a popular option for customers who want to take over the internal fit-out themselves.

In addition to the lock-up inclusions, this also covers:

  • Internal doors
  • Plasterboard

Many clients finish off the kitchen, bathroom, and other internal fittings on their own – allowing for more customisation and control over the final look and feel.
