TAS Specifications

Planning permits are legal documents giving permission for a land use or development, and may be required by your local council.

If a planning permit is required, it must be obtained before a building permit can be issued.

Building permits relate specifically to the carrying out of building construction.

A planning permit does not remove the need to obtain a building permit.

Tasmanian building legislation dictates that certain types of building work cannot be undertaken without the required approvals and/or permits being first obtained.

Before you consider building, demolishing or altering a house, shed, deck etc. we strongly recommend that you consult with either a Private Building Surveyor or one of our Building Officers to determine whether any approval is required.
