iBuild Factory Open Day · Victoria

Watch a house frame get made.
Then help build it.

Spend a day at our factory with the people who help you design, obtain approvals, manufacture and deliver your home – and who support you through the build. No obligation. No hard sell.

Two sections · going up in front of you

Why we are opening the doors

The hardest part is not the building.
It is not knowing whether you can.

Most people who think about building their own home stall at the same point. Not the price – the confidence. A brochure cannot fix that. Standing next to a wall frame while it goes up usually can.

So on Saturday 17 October we are opening our factory to 40 guests. You will see behind the scenes at how the wall frames and trusses are manufactured, with the machines running. Then you will watch two sections of wall frame assembled and stood up at a corner in front of you, and put a few screws in yourself if you would like to. It is the same job you would be doing on your own build.

Some guests will leave certain they want to go ahead. Some will leave certain it is not for them. Both are a good outcome for an afternoon.

What is on

Four stations, run by the people who do the work

You rotate through the first three, then everyone heads to the factory floor together.

STATION 01

Design

Bring your own plans or start from one of our designs. Our design team will talk through what can be changed, what cannot, and why. There are physical samples to handle – steel stumps, cladding, kitchens – and supplier representatives on the day to answer product questions.

STATION 02

Approvals

Planning permits, building permits, land survey, soil test, engineering – what is needed and in what order. To be clear: councils grant the approvals, not us. What we do is help you get through the process.

STATION 03

Delivery and procurement

Your kit does not turn up in one load. It arrives flat-packed on a crane truck across up to nine batch deliveries, sequenced to your build – floor kit, frames and trusses, windows, roofing, cladding, linings, then second fix. We walk you through the whole sequence.

STATION 04

Factory floor

A look behind the scenes at how your wall frames and trusses are manufactured, on the machines that make them. Then two sections of wall frame are assembled and stood up at a corner, with commentary as it happens – and you are welcome to pick up a drill.

Lunch, prizes and travel

Coming a long way? We can help with that.

Lunch is on us

Coffee from 10:30am, and a sausage sizzle at 12:30pm sponsored by Bunnings, who will also be running product demonstrations on the day – including solar. Stay for the whole thing; the best conversations happen after lunch.

12 prizes

One for every year

Twelve door prizes, drawn at 2:15pm among guests still with us – one for each year of iBuild. They are drawn smallest first and grow as we go, up to a $120 gift pack for year twelve. Stay to the end. *T&Cs apply.

$500

Towards your travel

Travelling more than 100km? We will reimburse up to $500 towards your travel – fuel, a night's accommodation, airfares, or a combination – if you later proceed to a signed iBuild supply contract. *T&Cs apply.

Three things to know before you come

Enclosed shoes, no exceptions

Part of the day is on a working factory floor. We cannot take anyone down there in open footwear. Hi-vis vests are provided. You do not need steel caps.

Everyone registers by name

Including anyone coming with you. We sign guests in on arrival because we need to know who is on the floor. Please register each adult separately.

It is the factory, not head office

The day is at our factory in Heidelberg West – not our Mulgrave head office, which is the address you will find if you search for us. Register and we will send you the right address and directions.

Who you will be spending the day with

Twelve years. From a garage to a royal residence.

iBuild supplies kit home materials and designs. You, or a builder you appoint, do the construction – which is exactly why we run days like this. The more you understand before you start, the better your build goes.

Questions

Before you register

Is it really free?

Yes. Entry and lunch are free. We cap it at 40 guests so everyone gets real time with the team rather than queueing.

I have not bought land yet. Should I still come?

Yes. A good part of the day is about what to look for and what order to do things in. Coming before you buy is often more useful than after.

Is there a display home to walk through?

Not at this site. What you get instead is the factory floor – you can watch the frames being manufactured and handle the materials as they are made, which no display home can show you.

Do you handle the council approvals for me?

Councils are the approving authority, not us. What we do is help you through the process: what you need, in what order, and what we can prepare for you. The approvals station walks through exactly where our role starts and stops.

Why is the address not on this page?

It is a working factory with a hard cap of 40 guests, and we need to know who is on the floor. Register and Eventbrite will send you the address.

What should I bring?

Enclosed shoes, and your plans or sketches if you have any – the design team can look at them on the spot. Bring any paperwork you are stuck on for the approvals station. And write your questions down beforehand; people always forget half of them.

Can I bring my partner or family?

Yes, but please register each adult separately so we can keep to the 40. Children are welcome on the factory floor with an adult and enclosed shoes.

What are the door prizes?

Twelve of them, one for each year of iBuild, drawn at 2:15pm among guests still with us. They are drawn in order – year one first, growing as we work up to the year twelve prize, a $120 iBuild gift pack. Twelve prizes among 40 guests are decent odds, and they run to the end of the day. *T&Cs apply.

What if the day books out?

We may run a second session at 2:00pm. The frame assembly happens once, during the hour the two sessions overlap, so everybody sees it. Register your interest either way and we will let you know.

Will I be pressured to buy something?

No. You will be paired with someone from our team so you always have a person to ask, but the day is about information. Nothing is signed at an open day.

40 guests. One factory floor. One day.

Saturday 17 October 2026, 11:00am to 3:00pm. Free to attend, lunch included.

*T&Cs apply to the travel reimbursement and the prize draw. Questions? info@i-build.com.au or 1800 679 268. Privacy Policy
