Why Choose iBuild

Building a Multigenerational Home with iBuild: Nick and Margaret’s Story

Located in Port Albert, a picturesque coastal town in Victoria, Nick’s build looks to bring four generations of family under one roof – himself, his wife Margaret, his sister, and his mother – while giving each of them the private space they need to truly live together. The home is also intended as a place for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren to escape the hustle and bustle of city living.

Nick’s block presented real complexity. It sits within a flood and bushfire zone, and requires EPA wastewater planning. On top of that, high electricity connection costs led the family to commit to a fully off-grid energy system – solar, battery, and wind.

A number of suppliers fell short. Some couldn’t accommodate the scale of the project. Others lacked the transparency he was looking for.

iBuild kept coming up. Strong reviews, a proven track record, and a reputation for clear communication put them consistently at the top of Nick’s research. But what finally confirmed it was attending one of iBuild’s monthly Open for Inspection events – the chance to walk through a real build, meet the team face to face, and ask the questions that matter before committing to anything.

Seeing the product in person, and speaking directly with the people behind it, made all the difference.

“Charles was genuine,” Nick said. “He told us that problem-free builds never happen. That honesty actually gave us comfort.”

Steel Frame for Fire and Durability

Given the bushfire attack level requirements, Nick’s choice of steel frame construction was well-suited to the brief. Steel is lightweight and resilient to fire. The off-grid energy approach, combined with double-glazing, also puts the home on a clear path to meeting Australia’s seven-star energy rating standard.

Nick’s project is currently in the design phase, with preliminary drawings underway. For a family choosing to come together under one roof, it’s a home worth getting right. With iBuild by his side, Nick is well on his way to build a home that will last for many generations to come.

We spent months comparing suppliers. What brought us to iBuild was the transparency - and what kept us there was the team. Charles was honest from day one, and that made all the difference
